Istanbul is not only a city of contrasts but also is a city of contrasts food. Here is not only kebab-eatery and street food but in this city, there are many restaurants and exclusive cafes. Here we talk about those special places where you will not be disturbed by tourists. You will know where to look for atmospheric breakfasts, original desserts, as well as excellent restaurants for dinner.

BREAKFAST

Aşşk Kahve (Muallim Naci Cad. Kuruçeşme Mahallesi No 64) 

The cafe has two locations: in the fashion-district of Nişantaşı and in Kurušeşme, with a peaceful view of the Bosphorus. Better choose the second one with a green garden, flowers and cats.

Ceşme Bazlama Kahvaltı (Teşvikiye Mh. Ahmet Fetgari Sk. No: 40; Tesvikiye, Osman F. Seden St. No: 8)

One of the best places not only for breakfast but also for Instagram photos. The interior is thought out to the smallest detail and neatly placed plates on a bright blue tablecloth. The fixed price of breakfast for two is 60 TL (€ 10).

Kubbe-iAşk (Süleymaniye Mahallesi Fetva Yokuşu Güneş Han No: 3)

This cafe is located in the historical part of Istanbul, where you can see the minarets of ancient mosques and the famous Galata Tower. Sometimes noisy seagulls are circling overhead and trying to beg a piece of bread, but without them, you can’t feel the mood of this city. Breakfast costs 35 TL (€ 6). And also order a cup of Turkish coffee for 12 TL (€ 2). Do not be surprised when the waiter will bring a copper tray on a velour pillow with the seal of Sultan Suleiman. This drink here is drunk just like that, with a royal scale.

Mum’s (Kemankes Mahallesi Fransiz Gecidi Sokak No 1/16)

Visit this place when you get tired of the bustling oriental life. This small cafe is safely hidden in the streets of the Beyoлуlu district. Here, everything is saturated with the European atmosphere so much that you will wonder where are you – in Turkey or in Italy? The menu has a large selection of coffee. The most expensive is matcha latte for 21 TL (€ 4). A Turkish breakfast will cost 45 TL (€ 8).

Divan Brasserie Bebek (Cevdet Paşa Caddesi No: 28/A)

This place has a lot of advantages: a prestigious area, impeccable service and Bosphorus rustling at its side. After the meal, do not forget to stroll along the Bebek district and admire the yachts and villas of local rich people standing along the coast. For a big Divan breakfast with organic eggs, fresh juice and seasonal fruit you will have to pay 59 TL (€ 10).

LUNCH AND DINNER

Nusr-et (Nispetiye Caddesi No:87)

The network of meat restaurants, which has sharply gained popularity, thanks to Instagram and is currently considered the best in Istanbul. In the afternoon here it’s still possible to find a place but not in the evening. Therefore it’s better to book a in advance. And sometimes the charismatic owner Nusret Goekce (the same saltbae) peeks into his establishments and willingly takes pictures with everyone.

Lucca (Bebek Mah. Cevdet Pasa Caddesi No:51)

The favorite place of Turkish youth in the fashionable Bebek district, so there are often long queues here. It is not excluded that some Turkish celebrity will sit next to you: for example, an actor or a singer. The menu is a whole mix of different cuisines. Here you can find both sea bass with lemon and mint risotto, and snow crab rolls. As well as a whole list of vegetarian dishes. But the main feature of the place is branded cocktails, changing from season to season.

Fenix Istanbul (Hisar Üstü Nispetiye Cd. No:79, Beşiktaş) One of the most famous restaurants in Istanbul, specializing in fish, seafood and South American cuisine. In the afternoon it’s calm here, and in the evenings the restaurant turns to a nightclub with music, special Dj fun, and dancing.

Mangerie Bebek (Cevdet Paşa Caddesi No:69)

Perhaps the perfect place to admire the Istanbul sunset. From the second floor of the restaurant offers a great view of the Bosphorus and the Asian part of the city. And even the roofs of the houses in front do not spoil the impression.

Misk Floral Café (Emirgan Sokak 22 / A Reşitpaşa, Sarıyer)

Unique and cozy cafe with the concept of healthy food. The menu has enough dishes marked vegetarian & gluten-free. Suitable for lunch or leisurely for a cup of coffee. It also has a flower shop, where they collect awesomely beautiful compositions. Connoisseurs of floristry will certainly enjoy.

Karaköy Güllüoğlu (Rıhtım Cad. Katlı Otopark Altı No: 3-4)

Remember this name because Karaköy Güllüoğlu sells the best baklava in Istanbul. If you want to buy various goodies and take with you, they will be sealed to you in a tight vacuum without any problems.

Hafiz Mustafa 1864 (Gümüşsuyu Mahallesi, No:, Sıraselviler Cd. No:7, Beyoğlu)

The most popular cafe in the city, where are presented almost all Turkish national sweet. You can safely find this cafe everywhere in the city, almost all of them are very conveniently located close to the main attractions and tourist places.

Ali Muhiddin Haci Bekir Lokumlari (Hamidiye Cad. No:33)

The original owner of this pastry shop is a very famous person in Turkey. It was Ali Hadji Bekir who created the Turkish delight in a form in which we know it and see it on the shelves of stores. The network of this lokum considered the best in the city. After all, it is still cooked according to old recipes and from natural ingredients.
